SIMSBURY CLASSICAL BALLET

Proper Training for Future Dreams
This program is designed for the beginning thru experienced dancer who is interested in learning more about the art of ballet. All technique classes will follow a traditional ballet format, promoting the joy of dance thru movement exercises, and disciplined study. Each class is an integral part of the planned curriculum for the year.
In addition, performance opportunities will be made available for more experienced dancers.

Wendy E. Holmes: Wendy received her BA in Dance/History from Mills College in Oakland, CA. She is also an alumna of Walnut Hill School, and The Boston Conservatory Dance Division, Boston Ballet, and Harvard's Summer Dance Program in Massachusetts. Ms. Holmes' extensive career in dance as a performer and educator has given her the opportunity to work with artists from all over the world. She has trained in the Cecchetti (Italian) and Vaganova (Russian) traditions of classical ballet. Ms. Holmes' has held the postion of adjunct professor in ballet at Mt. Holyoke College, Bridgewater, and Springfield Colleges. She has performed with classical ballet and early dance companies throughout the USA. For over 10 years she owned The Dancers Studio of Duxbury, and has directed private high school, recreation, and conservatory ballet programs.

The curriculum includes Classical Technique, Pointe
Variations, Ballet Theory and History.

We know times are tough for many people. This fall we are allowing you to pay just half of the Ballet Class fee now ($92.50) and you have until Oct 27 to pay the second half of the fee. Just choose the pay deposit option at checkout.

Dress code:
  • Girls: Pink Ballet Leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers and Pink Ballet Chiffon Skirt. Hair should be secured in bun and no jewelry please.
  • Boys: White t-shirt, black tights or shorts. Black Ballet Shoes.

Pre-Ballet
Is a fundamental dance class which provides a strong foundation for the beginning dancer. This class is designed to enhance each student’s awareness of movement, individual creativity is emphasized. Ballet terminology is used.
Dancers Age 3-6

  • No previous ballet training is required for any of the Pre-Ballet classes or levels!

    • Ballet-Technique
    Graded classes incorporating the study of proper body alignment, injury prevention, musicality and artistry. Barre and center exercises are chosen for each dancer’s appropriate level to develop muscle strength, coordination and stamina. Ballet terminology is used.
