- REGISTRATION INFORMATION;
- Registration for skating lessons can also be done at Simsbury Farms for all 4 sessions. Call 658-2512 for office hours.
- Mail-in registration is also accepted, please use the form found in the fall brochure or print from this website. Children must be of the correct age by March 31, 2010.

- FREE PRACTICE TIME;
- Free practice time is now offered with morning and afternoon skating lessons!
- Students in the 9:30am class may stay 1/2 hour after class to practice.
- Students in the 10:15am class may come 1/2 early to practice.
- Students in the 4:10pm classes may stay 1/2 hour after class (until 5:05pm) to practice.
- Students in the 4:40pm classes may come 1/2 hour early (at 4:10pm) to practice.

- SKATING LESSONS & PROGRAMS;
- All LEARN-TO-SKATE classes meet six times, Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Emphasis is on basic skills for the recreational as well as the serious skater.
- DOUBLE RUNNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR LESSONS
- Fees: Learn-to-Skate is $40.00, Figure Skating is $70.00
- FREE SKATING;
- Students enrolled in lessons will be given a pass to attend three public skating sessions, for each session enrolled in.
- RENTAL SKATES AVAILABLE;
- Rental skates can be rented for lessons and are available for one session for $10.00 or $2.00 per class. Reservations are required for those renting for the whole session. Size quantities are limited. Skate rentals for one session of Learn-to-Skate classes (6 classes for $40, a $2 savings over individual class rentals).
- CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY;
- Classes cancelled by the Recreation Department due to inclement weather will be made up the week following the last class in a session, except school holidays. Please call 658-2512 for updates.
Class Descriptions
- MORNING PRESCHOOL Class provides ice acclimation and an introduction to skating skills with an emphasis on fun and safe recreational skating. 9:30-10:00am - 3 and 5 years old, 10:15-10:45am - 3 and 5 years old
- PRE-STAR Class provides ice acclimation and an introduction to skating skills with an emphasis on fun and safe recreational skating.
- 1 STAR; FOR A CHILD WHO HAS PASSED PRE-STAR LEVEL. Course includes: March and glide across rink; fall down and get up properly; back wiggle; 2 foot glides and dip; intro to forward swizzles, snowplow scrape.
- 2 STAR; FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED 1 STAR OR HAVE TAKEN, BUT NOT PASSED 2 STAR. Course includes: Forward swizzels across rink; snowplow stop, 1-foot glide on left & right foot, back swizzles.
- 3 STAR; FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED 2 STAR OR HAVE TAKEN, BUT NOT PASSED 3 STAR. Course includes: Forward stroking; forward pumps on circle, One foot glide on circle both directions; back swizzles across rink; T push; T stop; forward lunge; 2 foot turn forward to backward; hockey stop.
- FIGURE SKATING CLASS; is offered for the student who has passed 3 star or ISIA Alpha Level. This class meets on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:05-5:45PM.
